It depends on your RAM, Processor and Graphics Card as well.

I think it is your laptop. If you are having the same issues at your friends high HS, I'd say your system is having trouble keeping up.

yup, sounds like youre laptop. in my 9 months time with GW, i think ive only experienced 2 lag/connection issue where anet was at fault, and at all those times anet was implementing an update or something. hell, anet servers has even received compliments from wow players.

I use dial-up, runs fine. I have played at my friends house with DSL and the difference is noticable, esp. in PVP, but dial-up runs it fine. Take out any background processes, get plenty of RAM and a good vid card

anet will never disconnect you for any reason. though the servers does sometimes lag like crazy. It is bascially impossble not to get lag spike on GW due to the many players on at one time. Dial up will give you alot of trouble because all MMO lags while using dial up.

I started this game with dial-up, and it ran very smoothly. I've upgraded since to high speed and... game play is pretty much the same (I've yet to get disconnected though!) about the only thing that's a little different, is the reaction time with the skills... I'm much better with interupts now.

The only thing bad about dial up is that you have to wait awhile to get the updates.

I agree with you gw is modem friendly for online play but not updates.

I started thinking about it will be so nice with Chapter 2 and new cd's with the updated code then I realized it will most likely not have C1 data such as SF.

Install c1, visit Sorrow's Furnace, bam... and SF files don't make sense to be in C2.

You must tell your Groups to make sure they wait for you to "pop" into a mission/quest. I notice that dial up users take a while to arrive. After that they "seem" to play ok except if they try TeamSpeak or something...that can really mess them up.
